vitamin shoppe-ing

Today we went to the doctors so Nadia could get a urine test, then drove all the way back home to pick up Clad and the kids so that we could go back out and shop for vitamins. It was cold. Yousef wanted to stay home and play his Matrix game - Path of Neo. Something tells me it’s a form of escapism for him. Me, I just watch this video/song. Rawk! Oh no. Octavious is singing along to it in a high pitched whistle. Shuddup!

Nadia got some fish oil to replace the ones we left behind, ‘the Vitamin Shoppe’ (yes. the Vitamin Shoppe) doesn’t have them as big as the one we had back home. It was strange in that shoppe, so many damn vitamins and witch doctor remedies in fancy pill bottles. Like herbs. What the hell is the health benefit of strange herbs? Okay, some of them are basically vitamins in the first place, but… rasberry pills?

After that we went to the subway that was nearby and I got a footlong with the lot, and mustard. It was nice. After that we dropped Clad and the kids off back home and then went back out again to go proper shopping at the supermarket. Oh, and we got a new deck of UNO :D

Theeeen after that we came home, and I wrote this. Hopefully tonight we’ll play a few rounds of UNO with everyone, and Clad has been bugging us to play Wii Bowling. I didn’t take any photos today, but I’ll post another one that I took back at the beach.

first day back.

Hey everyone! Last time I tried to keep a blog to stay in touch with you guys it didn’t go to well, but I’m going to give it another shot. What I’ll do this time is make the blog something of a daily record of what goes on over here, and if I have anything to say to people specifically I’ll send emails.

Yesterday was my first day back in the US, and I spent most of it asleep. It felt strange to be back after being home so recently… kinda feels like the world is schizophrenic or something. I can’t remember what woke me up, but Nadia’s parents came down to welcome us home, and I fell asleep again. Before I fell asleep I remembered that we got gifts for them, and told Nadia so she could get them out. Rosa really liked the plate we got her, but she didn’t seem that enthusiastic about trying some vegemite. Maybe later eh?

Later that night when I woke again Yousef came down to say hello, and wanted to get me up so I could play xbox with him upstairs. He got tired of waiting for me to get up and went back upstairs by himself. He came down again soon after with his mum - Nadia’s older sister Clad - and I remembered that we got gifts for them also.

Yousef usually has a pretty short attention span when it comes to gifts, but it looks like he really liked the Pirateology book we got him (well, mum payed for it :P). He’s tricky, y’know? Sometimes you just have to find that certain something that really catches his imagination and he’ll love it. That book was a lucky find.

We got Clad an Australian slang dictionary, she liked that - she reads a lot. When we saw her later that night she laughed and said she was already using some of the language - “Maybe I’m really an Australian!”. Yasmeen like little cute things apparently, so hopefully she’ll like the little glass kangaroo we got for her.

Today we’re going to go shopping for food, because there isn’t much in the house for us. I think I’ll clean up too, because it still looks like it did when we left it two months ago - like a tornado had been through it.

The weather is pretty cold, but it hasn’t snowed yet. I’ve also been lucky that they haven’t had the heating on too high, so I’ve been comfortable enough, though I’m still playing it safe by putting moisturiser on now and then.

I’ve just installed a special theme for the blog so that it’s easier for me to personalise it, so things will look strange for a few days while I work on it. I’ve also just installed a special plugin so that I can upload photos, I’ll see how that goes after I post this. I’ll post a few of the photos I took at the beach the other day. I was hoping that I’d have a lot of good ones of the kids to pass on to Cia and Harry, and John and Angela, but most of them came out kinda poop so there’s only a handful that look half decent.

More tomorrow - when I’ll hopefully have an adventure to share with you guys about going shopping for groceries :D
